What Feels “Off” About Your Website (Even If You Can’t Explain It)

01 / It Doesn’t Sound Like You

A website should sound like you as an individual. A lot of times, businesses owners will build their website with language that is generic or too formal because they think thats what they're supposed to do or they think it elevates what they've built. But it often causes disconnection and feelings of inauthenticity which affect how the website feels to you.

02 / It Looks Fine, But It Doesn’t Feel Finished

There’s a difference between something looking “okay” and something feeling complete. A lot of my clients started with a website that just hit the bare minimum. They get comfortable with the small inconsistencies. But overtime, the site will begin to feel off. Though the small things may seem minor, together they make the site feel unprofessional, inconsistenct, bland, unfinished, and more.

03 / It Doesn’t Match The Level You’re At Now

This is a big one. Your business has grown, your work has improved, your prices have likely changed, but your website still reflects an earlier version of you. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just no longer accurate. This is where 90% of my clients land before they pull the trigger and book a project with me! You are not alone here.

04 / You’ve Outgrown The Way It Was Built

At some point, you stop building and start patching. Adding sections that weren’t planned for, adjusting layouts that weren’t meant to change, trying to make everything fit as your business evolves. It works for a while, but eventually it starts to feel like too much effort for something that still doesn’t feel right.

05 / You Keep Going Back To It

This is usually the clearest sign that something needs to change. If you find yourself reopening your website, tweaking things, rewriting sections, and still not feeling settled, that’s your answer. It’s not a motivation problem. It’s not that you haven’t tried hard enough, it's that you need to have someone take a look at it with a fresh set of eyes.

What This Actually Means

That “off” feeling isn’t random. It usually shows up when your business has outgrown the version of your website you originally built. You’re more established now, more clear in what you do, and your site hasn’t caught up yet. Most of the time, the people who feel this way are closer than they think. This is where hiring a designer comes in! My books are open! :) I hope to see you in my inbox soon!
