The Things You Don’t Need To Feel Bad About Before Working With Me
01 / Your Website Isn’t Finished
A lot of my clients feel like they need to clean things up before sharing their site like it has to be fully done, polished, and ready to be judged. It truly doesn’t. Most of the time, I’m seeing websites mid-process, half-built, or pieced together over time. That’s very normal and its honestly helpful to see it as it is.
02 / You Built It Yourself
This one comes up almost every time, usually said a little quietly. But fear not, building your own website is how most businesses start. It’s resourceful, it’s practical, and it gets you where you need to go early on. There’s nothing about that that needs to be explained or apologized for. I always commend my clients on their effort because building a website at any level is not for the weak!
03 / You Don’t Know What’s Wrong
You don’t need to have a list of issues ready before reaching out. A lot of my clients simply just know something feels off but can’t fully explain it. That’s usually enough. Figuring out what’s not working is part of my process and not something you need to solve ahead of time.
04 / Things Have Changed Since You Built It
Your services may have shifted, your pricing may have changed, your direction might look different now. That doesn’t mean you did anything wrong earlier. It just means your business has grown, and your website hasn’t caught up yet. This is something worth celebrating!
05 / You’ve Tried To Fix It Already
Most of my clients don’t book a project with me without trying to fix it themselves. They’ve adjusted things, rewritten sections, moved things around, maybe even rebuilt parts of it. It can be a very frustrating experience but that effort isn’t wasted, it’s what got you here in the first place.
What This Actually Means
None of these are problems. They’re usually signs that you’ve reached the point where your business is ready for more support. You built something, you made it work, and now you’re noticing the gap between where you started and where you are now. And now you are ready to work with a designer! I'm here when you're ready.
