Case Study

LARCH SPUR DESIGN

Feminine, Nature-Led Landscape Architecture Web Design for a Pacific Northwest Landscape Architect

This case study highlights brand strategy and website design for Larch Spur Design, a Pacific Northwest landscape architecture studio led by Jessi Marquardt. The project focused on creating a refined digital presence that balances professional credibility with feminine design sensibility while showcasing the natural landscapes that inspire her work.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Jessi approached the project wanting a website that felt both professional and expressive of her creative identity. As a woman working in a male-dominated field, she wanted the brand to reflect a feminine sensibility while still maintaining the clarity, structure, and professionalism expected within architecture and landscape design.

THE CHALLENGE

Before the redesign, the brand leaned heavily toward strategy and structure but lacked visual storytelling. Jessi’s background in engineering and architecture made it easy to focus on function, organization, and technical clarity. However, translating those elements into a visually compelling website proved difficult.

• Limited visual storytelling
• Strategy-heavy structure without aesthetic cohesion
• Difficulty translating technical work into an engaging digital experience

PROJECT GOALS

The focus of the project was to create a more intentional and elevated digital presence while supporting future growth.

• Establish a professional website for the studio
• Introduce a feminine yet structured visual identity
• Highlight Pacific Northwest landscapes and photography
• Create clear service pathways for multiple project types
• Balance architectural structure with natural storytelling

CREATIVE DIRECTION

The design direction draws from the natural landscapes of the Pacific Northwest while maintaining the structured clarity expected within architecture and site planning.Organic, nature-led color palette inspired by Pacific Northwest landscapes

• Muted earth tones and coastal greens to create a grounded visual identity
• Feminine yet architectural typography balancing softness with structure
• Clean, structured layouts reflecting architectural drafting and planning
• Brand storytelling rooted in environmental inspiration and place-based design

THE OUTCOME

The finished website reflects both the technical expertise and artistic perspective behind Larchspur Design. The brand now communicates professionalism, environmental awareness, and a refined feminine presence within the landscape architecture industry.

• Stronger brand identity and digital presence
• Clearer communication of services and expertise
• A website that reflects both architecture and landscape inspiration publicly

A  Personal Note

The Years in Review

This project is especially meaningful to me because I have known Jessi for several years and have had the opportunity to watch her pursue this career with incredible dedication. After years of coursework, testing, and hands-on experience, Jessi officially became licensed and we were able to begin building a website that truly reflects who she is and the work she has poured herself into. Watching that transition from years of preparation into a professional practice was incredibly rewarding.

Creating a site that feels like her, grounded in nature, thoughtful in structure, and quietly confident in its presentation, made this project particularly special to be part of.
